Looking to buy used

I am looking to purchase a used Phaeton. I believe I remember seeing a post a while ago to stay away from certain year productions. If that be the case what years should I not look at? Also, what years do you recommend?

Stay at or below 08. Beginning of the DEF and Regen exhaust. Read all the problems with the regen exhaust on this site and the cost of upkeep.

If you follow the above advice you will miss out on some very nice coaches. Basically 2008 through 2012 had some issues which Tiffin fully addressed. Those being 1) wet bay floor 2) roof rail caps and 3) left front slide floor, collectively known as the BIG 3. 2013 and later coaches have none of these problems. As to the DEF issue it's really a non issue. DEF coaches run cleaner, have more usable power, and are just as reliable as non DEF coaches.

Did the above issues effect the Allegro models in those years too?

Yes, but to a lesser extent. The cap rails and wet bay floors were the ones on the Allegro I believe.

I have an 2008 Phaeton, Of the big three only the wet bay was an issue. and was repaired by Tiffin, the other two issue were nil. I dont have any issues with engine etc... have many upgrades, tires etc Pm I can send pics if you are interested.
