looking to move up

we are currently looking to upgrade our current gas coach and really like the look and feel of the Tiffin, Pheaton and Bus we are leaning toward the Bus just base on larger Motor, side radiator, and some of the other features any feedback on the differences and if they are worth the increased cost.

1jamn;

We are glad you joined us. Good luck on your search for the right rig. I have a side radiator & I believe they stay much cleaner. Other than that I think it is a mater of personal preference. Enjoy the forums.

We purchased the Allegro Bus and never looked back. I think you'll like either, but there are a few extra's you'll get with the bus.

Good luck with your decision.

Welcome. You wont be disappointed with the Tiffin line. We recently purchased a new 37PA RED and love it. The next one will be a the Bus. Good luck and enjoy the adventure.

The Bus has been on the Powerglide chassis since around 2010 when Gary Jones was hired at Tiffin after WRV folded. Great chassis.

About 70 grand difference in price (MSRP so maybe 50 grand in actual cost) but you get a lot for that. Some of the things that are optional on the Phaeton are standard on the Bus. Side radiator and integrated roof top awnings along with 150 gallon fuel tank are a big deal and not available on the Phaeton. As mentioned the Powerglide chassis is a big plus. Tiffin does put the 40IH and 44OH on the Powerglide chassis and all electric is standard on the OH and it's optional 8 grand for the rest of the Phaetons.
The Bus changes front and rear caps for 2019 and no real big changes to the Phaeton.
Both great coaches so depends on the budget. I will say we have a Phaeton on the Powerglide chassis and absolutely love it and it is a really good "bang for the buck" coach.

The only two powerglide chassis Phaetons are the 40IH and 44OH. You can check the specs but you get larger front axle with independent front suspension. There is a notable improvement in the ride. Larger tires and alternator. Two stage engine brake vs exhaust brake. Those models are on the XSH chassis with much larger basement. They also have Tiffin’s seamless smart slides
It’s not a Bus but you get some great features for the money.

thanks for the feed back the 40IH is one we like but leaning heavy toward the 40 bus. Big investment just want to make sure we are educating ourselves all we can before the jump.

we did like the Newmar no local dealer support, not sure that is a reason to rule them out, but just keep coming back to Bus. Also like the new modern interior of the Win. Horizon but have not really looked into them that much.

Here's my 2 cents worth. After having two Phaetons we went to a 2013 Bus. It has been the most trouble free and best riding coach of the eight motorhomes we have owned over the years. As for Newmr, my sons 2015 MA was a great coach. It was quieter than our Bus and easier to heat and cool as well. His 2016 Mountain aire was back to the factory three times in the first nine months with 45 items to correct. He finally sold it and bought a Newell. We have an excellent Tiffin dealer 40 minutes away from our WI home, so we aren't looking for anything else. We dry camp for a week at a time 2-3 times a year. I installed six 300 amp Lifeline batteries 2 years ago and have 620 watts of solar panels on the roof. We run the generator a couple hours in the morning and the batteries rarely get below 60% charge, even with the basement cooler on. The Lifelines are an option now on the Bus. Both Tiffin and Newmar are good choices. If we had a good Newmar dealer in the area, I might have gone with them, but now, with such great service from Kings Campers, we aren't interested in anything else.
