Low Coolant CEL

Anyone know how to reset the low coolant CEL on a 2019 bus?

Coolant went slightly low on way to the rally last week (bottom of sight glass cold) and threw an engine code. I topped off the coolant after arriving in Casa Grande and after driving 1,000 miles home the light is still on. A couple folks at the rally said their code cleared after topping off the overflow tank but mine is stubborn...

Removing the level sensor for cleaning may help .

CEL should cancel out with a good level reading .

As others have said, the light should reset as soon as the coolant level is corrected. Sounds like you may have a bad sensor that needs replacing. Try unplugging the old one and reconnecting, that might get the light to reset.

We've had the coolant sensor fail twice on our 2020 45 OPP. The 1st time it was replaced it took 3 times starting and stopping the engine for the code to clear. I carry a spare now.

Mine is waiting for the new sensor to come in. It threw a check engine code and we removed it and reset it and still no good and coolant was not even low. I was told not to drive coach too far, like 1,000 miles, as it will not perform a regen due to this code being in the system and that is not good. Seems to me that there are many inferior parts going into expensive machinery these days and it is not acceptable to me.

Thank You!

A big thanks to everyone for the helpful responses! I'll try unplugging and cleaning the sensor and will definitely order a spare to carry with me.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. Very simple parts (DEF level sensors, coolant level sensors, etc.) that should be 99% reliable are closer to 25% reliable. Poor engineering plain and simple. Very frustrating

Hey Rod. Would you happen to have the part number? I'm searching the web but can only come up with what appears to be a 4 wire sensor. Mine is 2 wire and I cannot see any numbers on the part itself. It may just be facing downward where I won't be able to see it until I pull it out. I can do that but would prefer to have a replacement in hand before I go wrenching on it.

The part number that I have for the coolant sensor is Q21-6030-004. It goes for around $90 from various sources. I am not sure what part number Rodney has given but maybe a cross reference many show.

He gave me the Tiffin part number. I didn't realize this part was available through Tiffin. I was looking for a Cummins part number and having no luck matching it up. $26.00 from Tiffin...

Where is the sensor located?

Good advice to carry a spare. Does anyone know where it is located in a 2017 Bus on PowerGlide chassis?
