2014 Phaeton, One air conditioner will run for only 20 to 30 seconds and shut down. Itíll come back on in a little while to run for 30 seconds shut off. Anybody know what that means?

My first thought is that the fan motor has failed and the unit is shutting down do to head pressure from the coils not being cooled. When the unit comes on listen for the fan inside the exterior cover yo confirm. I am not an A/C tech but had it happen to me several years ago.

The rear Mach 8 in my 2017 Tiffin Red had similar symptoms (would operate longer, but then wouldn’t restart from a cycle, neither the compressor or the condenser fan would operate when it would not restart but the evaporator fan would run continuously though). Since it was still under warranty at the time I had an authorized service company come to the campground we were at and evaluate it. After discussion with Airxcel, they decided that most likely the high pressure switch was failing. Airxcel directed the technician to bypass the high pressure switch and verify that the unit would run normally for 24 hours which it did. Once verified, the unit was replaced under warranty. You could try bypassing the high pressure switch and see if it would then work normally (both fans and compressor operating). If it does and since it’s out of warranty, I would just leave the switch bypassed and continue to use it.
