Maintenance free coach battery

We own 2014 Allegro SA. We are going to replace the 4 coach batteries. Has anyone replaced their batteries with maintenance free batteries? If so, did you notice a difference in performance?

To know if your going to have more capacity, giving you more time between recharges, you need to compare the AH rating of the old and new batteries. They can be any type.

If you want longer service life, as in years of service, you will want deep cycle batteries. They will outlast regular batteries by 2 to 3 times.

If the maintanence free batteries are Marine/RV, deep cycle/start batteries, they will last about half as long as batteries marked Deep Cycle only.

If you are looking at AGM, Deep Cycle batteries, which are maintance free, then you'll get a long service life but it will cost you 3 times as much as deep cycle batteries with caps for checking the electrolyte.

The only true maintenance free battery is a sealed gel, agm, etc type of battery. They work great but they're expensive. Several on the market so do a search on Google and a whole bunch of different brands will pop up. I personally like Lifeline batteries.

Last year, we started having a problem with our slide retracting. Also, when we are dry camping for a few days, the furnace doesn't last as long. We are thinking the batteries need to be replaced.

AGM are the best of the maintenance free batteries. AGM batteries from LifeLine are probably the best but they are expensive. They will not improve the performance, just cut your maintenance to just about zero. Your best bet is good old deep cycle 6V golf cart batteries. If maintenance is an issue for you, get yourself a battery watering system.

One other thing - you need to charge those batteries daily if you are dry camping. So get yourself a solar system or run the generator for a couple of hours in the morning and again in the evening.
