Navigation System
Hi all, we bought the in dash navigation system in our 2019 37 BA. The system works okay but we feel it could be better. Before we consider purchasing a separate GPS has anyone had any luck with upgrading the software? How do I confirm what version it is and how difficult is it to upgrade?
Thanks

I was looking at a 2019 Allegro Red 37 BA yesterday with navigation. What don't you like about it? I would like to know before I take the plunge.

It’s not that we are totally unhappy with it. On a few occasions it has sent us in a longer route than our Waze does. I understand that it may do that due to height and road restrictions for an RV. However we were able to confirm that wasn’t the case. It is based on Garmin system which is probably the one we would buy. I have read on other threads that even the new tiffins come with outdated software in the navigation system (you would think they wouldn’t but they do), so before spending money on a separate system I thought I would try upgrading first. Hope this helps. Good luck with the rig, we love ours!

Am in the process of ordering a 2020 37BA. Skipped the in dash navigation and decided to get the Garmin 770/780. Much cheaper and better from the many threads I have read before making my decision.

Starting in April 2019 Tiffin replaced the radio and navigation system in the Allegro Reds and Phaetons with a new system, the Kenwood radio #DNX775RVS, that supposedly eliminates the problems with the prior system. One of the features of the new navigation system is that it has Blue Tooth which allows the copilot to mirror what is on the navigation screen while using a tablet. This allows the driver to watch the road while the copilot navigates.

This would be a great upgrade. I am not a fan of the Kenwood/Garmin GPS systems. Are you sure this is in fact going into Phaeton and Red. We were in Red Bay in early June and did not see any Reds or Phaetons with the DNX775. Have heard that Phaeton is getting "glass cockpit" for 2020 which seems like when the 775 would be added. We talked with Triple H Electronics about the DNX775 and it is about $1800(+/-).

We put the DNX 775 in our 2019 40IH after seeing it at the Vermont Rally. So far, we have seen no benefit in it. It seems to have the exact same mapping as the Kenwood DNX571 in our 2016 36LA.
The 571 was Just OK, and a little better once firmware ad maps were updated.
With the DNX775, the ability for the passenger to control the display via App was the reason we upgraded. We have been unable to get the app on the tablet to work. There are no instructions on how to set up the radio or app for ghosting. The reviews for the Kenwood App are dreadful. The DNX775 did not come with a remote, so changing stations in route is difficult.
We are going to Red Bay in a few weeks, maybe someone can show me what I am missing so we can enjoy the advertised functionality of this new model.

Has anyone actually used the Garmin 780 or 770? Regarding the 770, I've read some good reviews, but have also read lots of bad reviews. Wondering if the 780 improved over the 770.
Thanks,

We have Garmin 770 for about a month and so far I like it and it is typical of Garmin from a UI standpoint. I have confirmed that it does generate warning on low clearances and that it will adjust routing based on your setup for RV size, weight, etc. AFAIK the new 780/785 have new features, such as camera integration. David Bott has review of 770 on YouTube and his outsideourbubble.com
