Need new tires. Driving a Tiffin Allegro 2014 Open Road 36LA.

Need new tires. Driving a Tiffin Allegro 2014 Open Road 36LA. The original tires are Michelin on my coach are 255/80/22.5 XRV. Tires by Goodyear are a different size 265/75/22.5 G670 RV MRT. The specs on the Michelin are a bit different from the Goodyear as in the following table.
Michelin Goodyear
Tread Depth 16 14
Minimum Dual Spacing 11.2 11.6
Loaded Radius 17.9 NA
Static Radius NA 17.9
Overall Diameter 38.2 38.4
Overall Width 9.9 10.0
RPM 541 537

Some other specifications that were available: maximum speed, single load, and inflation seem about the same for the two tires. Generally speaking Ford/RV dealers think that it is best to stay with the tire that is that is original manufacturing equipment.
Questions: Has anyone moved from a 255/80/22.5 XRV to the 265/75/22.5 in a similar coach as the Tiffin Allegro Open Road LA. Have the difference in specifications for Tread depth, Dual Spacing, Radius (the measures seem to be different in the table) made a difference and or when do you think they would make a difference.

Thanks,

Ken

Hi Ken and welcome to the forum. There are lots of folks here that like to help each other sharing knowledge about RVs.

I think the tire size calculator (link below) will help you get some of your answers. All the best.

Toyo M154. 265/75x22.5 Barely 1/2” difference. Installed on our 36 LA last year. So far so good. No difference in ride. No more Michelin’s. 2 different rv’s had the M crackers.

We put the Toyo M154 on our '14 Allegro Open Road 34TGA. Excellent results and significantly cheaper than the Michelins.

Thanks for your help. I went to the cite to check the differences. The issue now is to figure out whether the differences provide some issues for the configuration of the 36LA. Such as from wheel turning, dual separation for air flow etc.

So, you had no problem with front wheel turning radius or mounting duals with enough room for air circulation. Nice to know.

One of the 36LA's that we were looking at needed new tires, and after extensive research, I decided if we bought it, we were going with the Toyo M154 265/75x22.5 . As it turned out, the 36LA that we purchased had brand new Michelin's on it.

On a separate note, our 36LA is also a 2014. Are the circuit breakers in one of the storage compartment or are they hidden somewhere in side? I haven't found them yet.

I made a small tire size switch a few years ago. I had the 235's that come on gas chassis. It is difficult to find 235's in anything but Michelin brand. Thankfully I made the switch to Firestone FS560's in the 255 size.

Concerning the dual tire spacing: you will need to check and see if the new tire size is correct for your current rim width(might be stamped on the rim).

Concerning front tires: turn wheels all the way left and physically crawl under and look at clearances, then repeat with front wheels all the way to right lock. Keep in mind, suspension travel and that will change some clearances you just looked at. All the best.

There is a set of breakers in front of the bed by the dresser if I recall correctly. Also, the set of fuses is in the first compartment on the drivers side of coach.
