New Phaeton 37BH owner questions

I have a few questions that I think might be best asked in this forum of Tiffin owners. I definelty appreciate any comments anyone has. As a new owner these are somethings I've noticed quickly and am curious about.

1. There are solar shades and night shades on just about every window. Except, the rear master bathroom window. It has only a privacy shade so it's a choice of close the shade for privacy and block all light, OR, leave it open for sunlight but have near zero privacy. Now, don't get me wrong, the angle that anyone would see in would be very up looking. But, did they forget a shade?

2. When putting out the slides, the jacks obviously need to be down and the coach leveled. But, also it seems to require that we put the keys into the ignition. Once both items are done, you can then move the slides out. However, because the key is in the ignition, the warning BEEPs are going crazy. I'm sure that's serving as a warning to NOT drive off while the coach is leveled. But, seems silly also to be forced to listen to the beeping while just putting the slides out (or in). Am I missing something?

Thanks!

No and no

No Tiffin that I know of has both shades on that little window.
As far as the chime, itís to make sure you donít drive off with the jacks down and air bags deflated. You can turn the noise down. Look under the dash, usually on the left of the steering wheel and stuffed in the wires, youíll find a small black box for lack of a better description. Easier to turn the key on to find it. The volume can be turned down on this.

We just ordered a BH and currently have a Red 33AA. All should have solar shades, except maybe the bathroom. We only have a privacy shade, of course, maybe we have been missing it and didn't know!

Well, that was easy! Thank you both for the quick replies. This sounds like all is normal.

With the tinted windows, no one can see inside the bathrooms during the daytime.

Here's a link to a thread about the alarm. There is a photo attached of what you are looking for. You can close the openings to mute it down so it's not so annoying.

Did you find the little black box? My dog thinks he's being tortured when that alarm goes off and I'd love to be able to turn it down. Went rummaging under the dash but didn't have any luck last night

I don't see how to edit my thread/post, but I have two more questions to add to the mix.

1) On top of the RV are the 3 AC units, that is clear. There is also a black 'globe' shaped object, and a black 'disc' shaped object. What are those? I assume one is the Satellite for TV? What's the other for? Location for the navigation? Which is which?

2) I am attaching a picture. On it will be two white discs on the ceiling of the coach. One is obviously a speaker. The other is what? It seems empty?

1) The black globe shaped object is the Winegard satellite antenna if it looks similar to below and is near the front. The black "flying saucer" is the over the air antenna.

2) Those are both speaker grilles. You will have several for the in dash radio and the surround sound system.

I don’t want you to take this the wrong way but did you get a PDI and good walk through at your dealer? Since your coach is a 2018 I am assuming you are the original owner. We all certainly don’t mind answering your questions and are glad to help a fellow Rver but your dealer should have gone over all this stuff and asked you if you had any questions instead of leaving you blowing in the wind..

That being said, where is your first big trip??

Gary,
Definitely no offense! And super thankful for the patience, willingness, and energy of the forum members to help.

Well, we had about an hour and a half or so with a fellow (tech?) that did go over all the basic operations. Mostly inside the coach on showing us what buttons to push, or not, and when. He was friendly and answered the questions we were able to bring up during the time. That said, we are completely new to this so itís hard to even know what to ask. The questions above (or in other threads) were definitely not covered.

Iíve been reading this forum like crazy, watching videos, but thereís so much, only time and diving in head first will bring us the knowledge. Should they (The dealer) have done more? Not sure? Again, no basis to judge as itís our first.

First trip, likely up to Missouri for a couple days. Summer time, northern Michigan!

Some of the dealers mentioned take a day or more with their customers, especially if they are new to motor homes. An hour or so is not much .
But after a few trips youíll be an expert
Ask any question that pops up. There is no such thing as a dumb question.
I also suggest you join the TRVN too. Lots of info over there as well.
Suggest you start downloading the manuals for your systems too, they will come in real handy.
Enjoy and have fun on your first trip.

Good morning. We are still waiting on a build date for our 37BH, and I just wanted to check in and see how you were enjoying your new 37BH.

I can't figure out why they didn't wire the alarm ONLY to the ignition on wire, not the accessory wire. It is pretty annoying, but seems like good insurance to make sure NOBODY ever tries to drive off with jacks down, which is going to be an expensive lesson. I have to have key on to level, and as soon as the first red light comes on, here comes the beeps. Ditto here as well. I am going to look at fixing this to quiet this thing down. On accessory, you are not doing anything wrong so the alarm could go... With ignition on, impending doom is near so the alarm is a good safety feature.

Best first trip: The closest RV park to you. Gives you an opportunity to discover all the things you forgot to buy/take/borrow, and you can drive home to pick up the necessities. Our first week end was 4.5 miles from the house. We figured out a bunch of things we had forgotten. Much nicer to run 5 miles home or 4 miles to wal-mart to pick up what you need, as opposed to being a long way from home and not knowing much about what is where...

We thought it would be boring. It wasn't. Took me a good part of the day to get the winegard ConnecT set up, all the TVs configured to talk to it, set up the wifi stuff, get Dish working correctly with Dish network. There's plenty to do the first day or so without going a hundred feet.
