Newmar vs. Tiffin
Does anyone have feedback about a newmar vs tiffin? We are looking at around 30' units and wonder about the difference in repair service and quality. we want a used unit.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one as long as they were maintained properly.

I go along with tanstaafl. Both build quality coaches. I would go with which ever one has the floor plan your like, amenities you want, and which ever one you can get the best deal on. Pretty much in that order.

You might want to ask this question in the Newmar forum as well, but I don't think there is much to accomplish. I do know that my local Tiffin Dealer and my local Newmar Dealer are about two hours apart and neither has the other rvs on their lots, and I live smack between them.
Seems like a mutual admiration reality.

I was looking at both Tiffin and Newmar before I decided on Tiffin because of floor plan and customer service reviews.
Both are excellent companies and build a nice product. Go with the floor plan that fits you and features that you want.
We love our Tiffin and would buy another one. You can't go wrong with either.

We purchased a 2014 34' Newmar Ventana last July.
Have had it on several trips , the last being a 7500 mile round trip to Southern California.
It has been an absolute joy to own and drive.
It is just my wife and I and the floorplan is perfect for us.
I was waiting to have a list of problems/issues to occur as we traveled but other than a minor glitch with extending the FWS at a New Mexico campground(which Newmar sent a mobile tech out the very next morning) the RV has been flawless.
We tow a F150 truck and in the beginning I kept checking the rear camera monitor to see if it was still there cause I never felt it at all while driving.
With a shorter wheelbase chassis I know that the comfort drive steering really made a difference in drivability as at the end of the day I was not worn out from fighting the buffeting from passing trucks or crosswinds.
We are heading to Alaska next summer and this RV gives me the full confidence to make that journey without worry.
(Although we do have CoachNet just in case )

Get the floor plan that you like the best no matter which brand it is. I have a Tiffin, but I am looking at Newmar due to the floor plans.

Does Newmar even make anything in 30 ft ? We have an older Dutch Star and would look to a Newmar unit again if we were to replace it, but it's holding up so well it will likely not be an issue

I doubt you will go wrong with either one.
2 things I would check closely before buying any coach is the CCC and its rating by the RV Consumer Group, particularly its roading handling rating.
Checking the later will save a lot of head aches.
Go to their web site & read "How we rate RVs."

I have to agree that both brands are strong. You didn't mention which models you are looking into, so it's tough to share "details" from brand to brand. Things one might not be told by a sales person are things like the fast the Tiffin RED has single pane windows (a detail) and that the Newmar Ventana has no A/C vents throughout the coach (a detail).
Through the year models, different details are different
Certain year models of Tiffin had some serious roof issues, which tiffin will still fix.. once you narrow down a little further and zero in on a couple of year/models, you will find a wealth of actual owner feedback here.

The rain abated yesterday, and I made it up to Sacramento to visit the Tiffin dealer. A couple of weeks previous I made it down to Dublin to visit the Newmar dealer.
The quality/fit/finish of both coaches are a bit different for some elements, but more like trying to split hairs. It was the quality of the lower cost coaches from other mfgs that were appalling. Now, I'm only saying this because I'm looking for a full-time level extended travel coach for a senior citizen, not a two-week vacation coach for a working family.
