Nylon Slide Blocks

I replaced what I think are nylon slide blocks on my large hydraulic slide. I did the front about a year ago and just did the rear yesterday. I was wondering other than trying to keep them clean if there was a lubricant that could be used to prevent them from cracking. I thought about white lithium grease but decided to see if there was something better.

I'll occasionally spray mine with Powerlube, the same stuff Schwintek recommends for their slides. The other thing to do is make sure you clean off all of the black undercoat overspray that causes extra friction. The full weight of the slide is on those blocks so they do take a lot of abuse. I've had to replace them on all four of my slide rams at some point.

Thanks for the reply. I will get some of the Power Lube. The one I see on Amazon is a CRC product.

If you can find blocks made of UHMW they will last a lot longer than nylon.

I just give a light spray to the underside of the slide ram when extended.

Where did you purchase the new blocks. Just found two of mine split in half in the exterior tray yesterday.

I would use dry lub so as not to attract dirt.

You can also order them from Tiffin in the online store. As someone suggested, I just ordered a 3/8" thick piece of the UHMW to see about making some. We'll see how that works out.

Here's a document I put together on how to change them out. It's not easy, but not super hard either.

I am going to try that also but not until later in the spring. Let us know how it works out.

I got mine from Tiffin a couple of years ago and changed out 2 of them. So I still had the other 2.

The link that was provided by DAJO looks like the same kit and shipping is probably cheaper that Tiffin.
