Two weeks ago I put money down on a Winnebago (Navion), but when it came in and we examined it, I simply couldn't live with the shoddy construction and the lousy quality of ... everything. My wife and I had such high hopes after watching hours of videos and studying this model for weeks. We were extremely disappointed with Winnebago and walked away from it. I now understand that Tiffin is supposed to be much higher quality than Winnebago, so we put money down on a 2021 Wayfarer, and walked through the 2020's they had in stock (and it was obvious the construction was so much better). Then I started reading more about the OCCC issue and how Winnebago has 500+ more capacity (probably due to the cheaper lighter materials used in construction). Our salesman told us that Tiffin calculates the OCCC with the tanks filled, where others don't include full water tanks. Does anybody know if that is true? Thank you everybody for your information.

Your salesman is wrong, OCCC is a federally mandated calculation number, the old pre-2009 CCC method was calculated with full tanks. Be careful on the Wayfarer, we looked at one at an RV show in January which had less than 500 pounds OCCC capacity.

No Tiffin uses empty tanks to figure OCCC. Wayfarers are heaver because of the construction. All the 2020's came with diesel gensets which are heavier that the lp models. I bought a TW which has only one small slide, and smaller fridge. They come with tables etc, that can be left at home. I have read that the 2021's use a different construction method which raises the OOOC.

We looked at both coaches as well and have a 25 RW on order.

The 2021 Wayfarer 25RW has an OOOC of 1101 pounds. If you add the auto leveling system and diesel generator you are within 100 or so pounds of a standard Navion OOOC and the quality is far superior.

Thank you everybody for replying. This appears to be a great web site for accurate information (and that means you guys!)
I was out on Sunday and spent hours with my salesman again. We discussed OCCC and he said that value did not include occupants. Armed with this new knowledge I nicely called my salesman a liar (well, I told him somebody on IRV2 did). He spent time researching and eventually came around in agreement. Markanddee is correct, Tiffin improved the OCCC values in their 2021 RW's (to 970 lbs with my options) and I was sold. We looked again at the Winnebago, and although it has more options, I simply can't live with the lower quality workmanship. We take delivery of our 2021 RW this week and I'm so thankful Tiffin fixed that potential 'show-stopper' IMHO.

I agree, you will go through 970 pounds before you know it, also you will need to watch your axle weight balance to not go over axle weight ratings. Using the OCCC method my 28 ft class A has just under 3,000 pounds of carrying capacity, when loaded for travel with mostly full water tanks, I find I am within about 300 pounds of capacity, and am constantly thinking what can I make lighter, and still carry all the stuff I want to bring. Last year I added a Camco Little Red campfire propane fire pit, and thought long before adding the extra weight (15 lbs)

Don't know about the RW, but on my TW, removing bunk cushions, heavy tables, bed extensions inside window covers etc. saved me about 220 lbs. Have not put it on the scale yet, but pretty sure I will be under the magic 11030 number with 1/2 tank of water.
