Open road, add lithium batteries ?

Has anyone with an Open Road with a residential refrigerator converted to lithium batteries?

I’m looking for ways to dry camp without running the generator 4 hours a day. I’m most likely going to add at least 3 more solar panels to the one that came with it. But wondering what kind of ordeal it would be to convert to lithium.

Thanks,

Steve

I have a 2022 32SA and have installed a system consisting of Battleborn batteries (2 - 8D 270AH), a Victron Mulitplus II 120V inverter (powers all 120V circuits), solar stuff (about 1300 watts) and a Li-BIM 255. I don't have a lot of time on the system yet but the latest trip we ran the refrigurator and one AC without any issues. Further testing/experience with the system will give us a better idea how long the batteries will last powering 'normal' loads with and without solar recharging. It has been great to be able to turn on most anything with running the generator.

Don't have a Tiffin, but the lithium upgrade will require a converter or inverter/charger that has a lithium profile, (unless you already have one) and probably a change to your BIM, or an addition of a DC to DC charger, to protect the alternator. The Lithium will be able to power the fridge longer, and a consistent amperage and voltage than the wet batteries could.

Lithium batteries. Likely 600ah. Lifeblue, Battleborn, SOK, etc. Likely use 200ah batteries.

Existing magnum using inverter/charger should be lithium capable. Add additional charging amps via additional chargers to shorten generator run time, when needed.

Solar. Fill the roof with as many watts possible. 1200-1500 watts, more as possible. Rich Solar, others - make narrow 200w panels. Use two Victron solar charge controllers - one for the string of panels on each side of the roof.

Shunt based amp counting battery monitor needed. Victrin SmartShunt or BMV712 recommended.

Alternator charging. Likely nothing needed. Check actual current draw after all the above installed. Then, if needed, add Victron DC2DC charger.

Imho...
