If you have a Cummins ISB, make sure it is not the fan clutch. Quite a few failures with that. Your vintage engine does not have a slobber tube so the radiator does not get nearly as "gunky". If it is the fan clutch, the overheating can be intermittent at first, independent of whether you are climbing a hill. Pull over when it is overheating and check to see if the fan is running super fast (it should be ) or if it is slowly spinning.
