Phaeton 40AH Lesson Learned

Well, I never found anything in my owner's manuals that addressed this issue, but lesson learned is that the bathroom pocket door which accesses the bedroom MUST be open and latched at the top BEFORE pulling the left slide in.

I know this sounds like a "Duh" story, but the door will actually latch at the top when the door is closed as well. The thinking is that as the slide comes in, the pocket door will come in with the slide. Not the case. When the door is closed and the slide comes in, it will bend the latch pin because the latch track is attached to the sealing and not the slide roof.

Now, with that said, does anyone with a Tiffin know how to remove the door from it's two mounts?

ha ; no one until now had the courage to own up to it. I did the same and bent it back myself. Just had my bathroom walls put where they were supposed to be to keep the door closed. One screw holding the whole wall in place and that came out. The shower side was way out and had to be pushed over also.

our pocket door has a white plastic keeper at each hanger on top of door, rotate the keeper away from the pin and the door can slide right off.

We did the same thing on our bus. I DID NOT take the door off the rail. I used a combination wrench to straighten the bar. I put the open end on the bar and a screwdriver through the box end for leverage and bent is straight. That left a couple nicks in the coating on the bar, but it works like new.

Good luck...

Thanks folks for the help. I got the door off, put a deep socket on the pin and straightened it out. Thanks again.
