Problem with cruise control
I recently purchased a used 2017 Allegro Bus. This past week was the first time I had it on the highway and turned on the cruise control. It was set for about 60 and travelled about 1/4 mile before it just decelerated was on it own, rapidly, and would have continued to 0 if I hadn't intervened. I was told when I bought it that it was not adaptive cruise control, but even if it were it shouldn't do this. I tried it several more times, and it would go a variety of distances before doing the same thing. I didn't touch the brakes, gas pedal, or bump the steering control. It just seems to do it on its own. The little light that tells you that cruise control is on is very difficult to see in daylight, so I can't tell you if that was turning off or not. Was traveling on flat straight road. Any advice as to what I am doing wrong? I use my cruise control al the time in my car with no problems.

Do you have an exhaust brake ?
Freightliner chassis ?
Is the exhaust brake switch turned on ?
My chassis I can set the cruise control with the exhaust brake switch on ( some chassis you cannot ) If I forget the exhaust brake switch , the brake activates an interrupts the cruise on the SLIGHTEST decline ; and I have to reset the cruise and turn off the EB switch if I don't want it to happen again.

Turning the dash light brightness up makes it visible during the daylight ,it has to be very bright to see the crusie icon on my dash. I have the Mobile Eye and if the cruise is on and someone cuts in front of us in about 3 to 5 car lenghts while driving down the highway, the cruise quits. I also have the exhaust brake on almost all the time and that doesn't seem to bother the cruise control.

It's Power Glide chassis, and yes I had the EB on. Will turn off and see if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I will try turning off Mobile Eye to see if that makes a difference.

The exhaust brake has no affect on the cruise control in straight level operation. Turning off the mobile eye may cure your problem.

Problem with cruise control
I had a similar problem with my cruise control on a 2012 Phaeton. I did not have the Mobile Eye option. My cruise control would drop out with or without the exhaust brake engaged. Eventually I discovered that it would drop out after hitting a bump in the road. In the Phaeton the cruise control was operated with a stalk on the steering column. Replacing the stalk solved the problem.
In my current coach, a 2018 Allegro Bus, I can use the exhaust brake with the cruise control. I fact, I think that my downhill speeds are better controlled while in cruise control with the exhaust break engaged.
