Question about adding sliding drawers in cabinets

I'm going to build sliding drawers to make it easier to get to all the things in the cabinets in the coach. Question is about attaching the slide mechanism to the wall at the rear of each cabinet. Am I safe using a half inch screw and going into the wall or should I pre-glue a 3/4 x 3/4 board to the back wall and then attach the slide to that board. Any help appreciated.

Not knowing what is inside the wall, I'd glue a wood plate on the wall to secure the screws to. If I had a stack of drawers I would use one plate for all in the stack. The plates would be 1/2" - 3/4" MDF or Plywood.

Chris Berry has placed slides in all of our PS cabinets (all seven). He builds a frame for each one that the slide mechanism is attached to. The sliding drawer also has a catch at the back, similar to all Tiffin drawers, that provides a positive lock and keeps the slide in when traveling. The frame is attached to the floor of the cabinet. All the wood is stained to match the cabinets. The DW loves them!!
