Rain water leak

Now my latest dilemma. We’re getting rain water on our bed during travel and also out our light fixture opening in the rear closet.

We’re thinking it might be from the seal degrading under the rear AC unit. If anyone has any other possible culprits, please let me know.

We have a mobile technician coming out on Tuesday to replace said AC seal. I would love to get some input or confirmation that this is possibly the issue before spending the capital in repair.

Thanks in advance.

Yours being an '04, that AC seal is now 20 years old. What are the odds?
Water will migrate inside your ceiling so the leak may not be where she drips.
BUT I'll lay you 8 to 5 it's the AC seal which is not visible from up top.
However, changing one is definitely a DIY job, and YouTube is your friend here.
A PITA job, but why not try it yourself? A mobile tech is going to be costly.

You've got a 2004 RV, so it could be a few things. My previous motorhome was a 2003 Monaco Diplomat. For the closet leak.... My water leak was on the exterior roof, rear cap where the self leveling sealant was. It needs to be checked at least once a year. If you haven't done any maintenance on it lately, might look there. For the bed leak, check
your slide seals, might be time for a seal change or its folding over somewhere and not sealing properly....if your bed is in a slide. Those 03's and 04's were great but now over 20 years old.

I just checked the rooftop before Summer and hit a few spots with silicone. All four slide seals were replaced in July of this year. So there’s that.🤣

Get you some Dicor Self-leveling sealant for roof areas. Save the silicone for window frames & side seams. You probably shouldn't be using silicone on the roof at all.

Tiffin uses silicone on the roof on all their coaches

I have seen a crap ton of Dicor on the roof of my 2022 40IP - some of it over 1/2 thick.

Have never seen any silicone up there.

There is a lot of silicone on the sides.

I don't know about Tiffin, but Winnebago has a list of what sealants to use where. A lot of times people refer to silicone as a generic term. There are a lot of different types of silicone.

Tiffin uses self leveling silicone on the roof of our Bus. You can’t use Dicor as it will not adhere to the factory silicone. #TheMoreYouKnow

What I am saying is it most likely is not the average silicon you get at the local hardware store. A person needs to be careful as to what is used on top of the original sealant. I have never had any luck putting plain silicon on the top of anything. It needs to be in between two surfaces. I see it a lot in the automotive repair business. People think they can just put the silicone on a leak and not between the two surfaces. Hopefully this explains what I was trying to say.

Yes it does. Heng’s self leveling silicone is what they recommended for our Bus.

Unless someone put it one there, if it’s from the factory, it’s silicone. It just looks like cured Dicor. That being said , I have used Dicor on our traveler antenna as it was easier to get but it’s not over any other sealant.

OK. I assumed it was Dicor because it looks just like it.

They must buy it by the tanker truck based on how much they used on my roof.

Yeah, I think they pump it out of 50 gallon barrels
