Rear LED light bar - what turns it on?

I replaced the LED strip on the engine hatch, but none of the switches seem to turn it on. I tried: running, dock, porch, & road lights. I didn't try the reverse lights.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Ernie is correct. It's a high mount brake light.

And don't forget that LEDs are polarity sensitive. I swapped some incandescent lights with LEDs in my MH just by swapping the bulbs. One would not come on. I futzed with the wiring for an hour before I discovered that the one fixture was wired backwards... it had the red wire to the shell of the bulb and the black wire to the tip of the bulb. I could have swapped the wires but my OCD had me dismount, rewire and remount the fixture.

I just realized. This is supposed to be red, isn't it? I wonder if this will cause an issue with the state inspection?

If it does, get a red one of the same or slightly longer length, swap it, and remount the white one inside the coach somewhere (I added one inside the closet) or even in the engine compartment as a work light.

The LED strip came in a 5 meter reel, so I was thinking of using the excess in the pantry, bathroom cabinet, or awning.

They sell the same LED strip in red, but I hate to blow another $80 if I don't need to do so. Plus what do you do with the extra red lights?

Actually, you can get a citation for the white light to the rear. Texas state law is no lights showing to the rear except red or amber. A replacement from the Tiffin store is $64.21, part number 5031108. I have a few leds out on mine and need to replace it eventually.

Or you can get a shorter 16' strip from Amazon for about $15.

Shoot. I'll cut the wire for now.

That is a great deal on the light strip. I got mine from superbrightleds.com because I liked the lifetime warranty. However, I could replace them quite a few times before I come close to the same cost.

I'd leave the the white light installed but move the wires to a switch... use it for a work light when you are behind the coach... maybe while connecting/disconnecting a toad.
Then install a red light right above the white light and connect that to the brakes.

I did think about wiring it to the back up lights. I think that light is optional on class As.

Or you could have the best of all worlds...

Just use a 3 position (center off) toggle switch located wherever is convenient.
