Refrigerator question

I have a 2018 32SA with a residential refrigerator. Occasionally someone will fail to close the freezer door completely and I notice two symptoms before long; (1) a little ice build-up in the freezer and (2) the refrigerator main compartment seems to not get as cold as normal. I can turn it off for a day or two (I do this after every trip anyway) and that will cure the problem. My question is, this is a maytag refrigerator model mrt118fffm01 and I can't find out if it is a so-called frost-free model (which means a defrost cycle with a heater to drive out the ice build up) or not. Anybody know? Seems a bit silly to have a refrigerator that needs to be shut down long enough to melt this ice...

According to Owners Manual both freezer and food compartments have auto-defrost
Download the manual here:

Also might want to adjust front of fridge up so there is a slight tilt towards the rear...helps doors close

I had that problem a few years ago on the fridge and freezer at the house. I found online a DIY door alarm that ran on a battery. It had a timer that you could set somewhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes or so. Think it was less than 10 bucks to build.
