Reliable Tiffin dealer in FL?

We currently have a 2013 Itasca Sunstar 30T & are considering upgrading to a new Tiffin Allegro 32 SA. One advantage for us is that Tiffin is only a two drive instead of a week's drive for Winnebago if we need to go to the factory. However, we would really like to find a motor home that we can get repaired locally.

The only dealers I know of in southeast FL where we live are North Trail in Ft Lauderdale & La Mesa in Port St. Lucie. Both have many horrible reviews on the internet & we have personal experience with La Mesa where we bought our Itasca.

As much as we enjoy the motor home experience in general, the service nightmares take a lot of the fun out of it for us.

How have others solved this problem that seems pervasive in the industry?

If you are in your RV, drive to Tampa and visit LazyDays. They have a campground right there. We found them to be very good to deal with and plenty of RV's to look at, new and used. Call them first to set up appointment and they may comp your stay.

When we bought our 2011 Allegro (brand new) we found Lazy Days very easy to work with and accommodating. We had checked with North Trails and with La Mesa and Lazy Days gave us the best deal and service.

If you are not a full-timer and choose not to return to the factory, then you are stuck with the local dealers for warranty service, no matter what brand you buy. Tiffin has an excellent reputation for factory service well-beyond the one year factory warranty... something that no other motorhome builder does. And their factory is two days closer to you than Forest City. Out-of-warranty service you can take most anywhere you trust.

Stay far, far away from North Trail.

LazyDays is superb compared to most others but when all is said and done, you'll pay a bit extra for the experience. If you want to minimize your cost, go to Sherman or Davis and order your coach. If you want to maximize your purchase & service experience (at a fair price), go to Lazy Days.

Lazydays is probably #1, but La Mesa out of Sanford seemed to have a good crew, when we were at the Tiffin Rally in Orlando, back in March. La Mesa sold 15 Tiffin Motorhomes at the Rally. Tiffin usually has one Rally in Florida every year, so you would have a chance to actually see the owner and or the National Sales mgr every year. Good Luck, Dave

Also, in Florida you should be able to find a good independent rv service guy that can do most of the things a big dealer will do at less cost and get it done faster. Dave

We have owned six Tiffin Motorhomes. The factory is first choice for service, with campground if you can stay. Some take their motorhome , leave it pick up week or two later. The service, quality of work, and honest pricing could save you in the long run.

We left the the keys in Apr and stopped at all the large inventory dealers. Six total if you count the different Camping Worlds. One of the "tricks" I learned from selling cars yrs ago, ask the salesman what their "junk doc fees" are, The numbers $$ printed on the contract. What we found was they ranged from $200 to $800 dollars. And Im sure you can guess which one was the highest.
We made a few offers, but no deals. If you don't get turned down, how do you know the lowest price. Remember you can always negotiate up....but never down!
We stopped at Sherman Rv in MS by chance, and one hour later bought a Allegro Bus. How much was their Doc Fees......Zero..! And they beat the "big dealers" in customer relations and accommodating what we wanted on the deal.
If you want a eye opener and ever over hear RV sales people talking, they don't think we're the smartest folks on the planet.

What about Camper's Inn? Any feedback about them?

We had a great sales lady @ Lazydays in Tampa. She has even been there for us after the sale. Her name is Jeri Abell. They gave us the best deal, paid for our trip to Tampa to pick up the coach, offered several free seminars and driving classes, paid for our breakfasts and lunches. They also have you stay in your coach at no cost for several days to learn all about your coach and work out any bugs. They also give you a discount at their campground if you buy from them. We did have an unpleasant first experience with service with regard to warranty work, but after complaining we have had excellent service since then. We are in Miami and we also have a local chassis guy.

2X on La Mesa in Sanford. We bought our Fleetwood there this January. I won't go as far as to say we didn't have some issues, but our expectations might have been out of whack (check posts in my profile if you'd like). But the follow up service has been excellent and if they have what you're looking for I'd definitely give them another chance. They've changed ,service managers in the last year or so and I can't recommend the new guy enough. He went out of his way on at least two occasions to make something right for me.
