Removing Rain Head Shower Head

OK, I've lived with having the dual rain head & wand shower heads for a year & decided I don't like both.

1. Whether on shore or pump, I don't care for the delicate waterfall of the rain head. It takes to long to rinse soap out. Yeah, I know, use less soap....that ain't happening.
2. DH is rather tall & even when turned he hits the top of his head on the edge of the rain head.
3. To get the wand high enough for him so he doesn't have to bend down to use the wand, it has to go above the rain head & that rain head is then in the way (no matter how I tilt it) of the spray from the wand.

I thought about seeing if the arm holding the rain head would pivot to get it out of the way more, but it appears fixed & I don't want to force & break something.

For those of you with both in your showers, do you see any issues with me just removing the rain head & capping off that end? Could always use that arm left behind to hang my back scrubber on.

We hate the rain head and have only used it once to see how it works. Will be watching for replies.

Hey Lori.

That rain head arm should be just a standard 1/2" pipe thread that's screwed into a fitting inside the wall. You should be able to just unscrew it, plug the fitting then cover the hole with a decorative plate. To check it out, close the bathroom door a foot or so and you will see two wood access cover plates on the wall behind the shower. There is an upper one to access the rain head fitting and the lower one for the main controls. I've thought about removing ours, but since I'm vertically challenged it doesn't get in my way.

Thanks, Dan. We've got an upcoming trip w/nothing to do once we get there but hang out at our site in our masks . I'll add this to the list of to-do's I've got going (i.e. reprogram the infrared sensors, Aero WashnWax the DS, another coat of RainX on the windshield, rearrange one of the bays to fit the new ladder we got, attach some more command hooks...etc.)

I removed our rain shower head. I haven’t capped the end. Unless I were to divert the water from the wand it is just as before but I’m no longer banging my head.
My plan, when I have the time and motivation, is to remove the arm and find a way to run a return water line to the fresh tank. Then I’ll use the hole in the shower and the current diverter to add a Showermiser like they have in the new coaches.

That is my plan as well. Researching alternatives to the Aqua View.

Well, I didn't have any luck getting the access panel cover off so I could see about removing the arm with the rain head on it. The dang cover is so far to the right on that wall, the casing for the bed slide trim was in the way. I didn't have a short enough screwdriver to get the 2 far right screws off. Will have to try again after I find a stubby cross-point screwdriver at home.

For the time being, I just unscrewed the rain head & put it in the bag with the OEM towel rings I took off the walls. The arm is still in the shower, but at least the rain head is out of the way so the wand can go up higher without being blocked by the rain head.

I have removed the rain shower head and the pipe flange on the back of the shower wall that it screwed into. I used a step drill to enlarge the hole in the shower wall to accept the Aqua View "T" pipe. It is really a simple operation. Now I have to install the return water line which may prove to be a little more difficult. I was able to get find the Aqua View on EBay for $30.00.

Adding the Aqua View proved to be a more difficult task than I am willing to undertake due the limited access to install the return water line in the Phaeton 40IH.
