Replacing awnings, and fixing a flaw in the initial desing

We are at a point of needing to replace the main awnings that run the length of the passenger side. When we that we want to add the new "wedge" that allows the rain to run off the awnings instead of having to pull the awnings in during a rain storm.

Questions include, can the wife and I install the new fabric? We are fairly handy but I am on my third artificial shoulder in my right arm. The other issue is the best I can tell, we will have to totally disassemble the awnings from the roof of the coach to put the wedges in and then re-install.

I don't make a habit of paying others to do the things I can do myself but I also try not to make stupid financial mistakes trying to do things myself that I shoud have paid the pros to do from the start.

If this is something I should pay someone to do, where do I find the source to do the work. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I raised cane about the awnings not shedding water and got Tiffin to add the wedges when the unit was only a few months old, but it took a BIG fight. You could add the necessary wedges yourself, but it is a heavy, difficult job and you will have to buy and fabricate them yourself. Although I do just about all my own maintenance, I would not try to replace the fabric. I have seen it done in the factory service center and think it took 3-5 strong, young techs. I'd check some of the independent shops in and around Red Bay for someone to do the job.

I do have some limited pictures of the wedge placement but I'll need your email in a PM to be able to send them. I've not had any luck posting them as a board post.

Thanks for the response. I think I will have someone else do the job of replacing the fabric. I thought I saw on Carefrees website that they now offer the parts to angle the awning. Will call them and see what I find.
