Replacing CO detector in Phaeton 40 AH

So the CO detector in our 2017 Phaeton started beeping last week. Took it off and it did indeed have a 2017 date on the back so I ordered a replacement from Amazon. My question is, not being very technically savvy, does all power in the coach need to be disconnected including batteries before putting the new one in? Be gentle. . . And thanks.

No, you don't have to disconnect all power. It's an easy snip snip and new butt connectors. I just had to replace our 2017 detector for the same reason.

Thank you, Lt Dan. I’m always a little wary when dealing with wires.

Alarm

I am having the same issue with the alarm going off. The model # of mine is 25-742 safe-t-alert. I have not been able to find this model. If yours had this model what did you use for a replacement that covered the hole.
thanks for any help.

Go to the tiffin online parts store. I couldn’t read the model number but they had 6 or 8 different ones.

I bought mine on eBay from RVPartsPro but they are showing out of stock now. Just plug in 25-742 on eBay and there are several available there at about half the price of the Tiffin store.

Here's one listing.

C/O-L/P

Got one from Tiffin for $85 with shipping. Thanks for your response. I checked with the manufacture and they don't make that model any more. I was trying to get the same one for the cut out.
Thanks again.

It is a 12V detector and I would recommend using bullet connectors so replacement in the future will be quick & easy. On the motorhome side, the female would be on the positive and male on the negative. I replaced the original (70-742-P-WT) when it was about 8 years old with the same model and it lasted just beyond the warranty. Couldn't find the exact one so I went with the 35-742-WT.

Detector Replacement

We have a 2014 40 AH and ours is in the hallway and it’s a dual propane/carbon monoxide detector. Could not find the exact one from Safe T Alert so I researched and found everyone was replacing it with this one. Purchased at Hodges Marine and their part number is SAF85-741-BL. It was on back order but received it promptly. It was worth the wait due to the replacement has a backplate that covered the holes drilled from the initial install from Tiffin and this install came out very professional looking with a factory look. I too used screw on wire connectors instead of butt connectors. Hope this helps you. Regards.
