Retroband need to replace a Tire vs special tool

I had NIRV install the retroband on a new set of steer tires.

Someone asked me what will happened on the roadside when you need to replace a front tire how do you get the tire over the retroband? do you have to remove the band? .

Retroband website doesn't share that detail, nor did NIRV share that tid bit of information.

I searched this forum and web to see if I need to carry a special tool or instructions for the mechanic to swap a tire.

If anyone knows the detail on what is required to install a new tire on the roadside with retrobands I certainly would appreciate that.

Watched the video have a few observations, the new retroband units on a Pallet at NIRV Dallas were red not yellow, I wonder it that is the new version after the recall.

On the Topic of tire balancing Dallas NIRV no longer uses lead weights for balancing they put a small bag of glass beads in the tire. I'll have to put that in my notes to ensure a roadside replacement brings those glass beads with a new tire.

I certainly appreciate you sharing this video. I couldn't seem to find a video like this. It certainly lessened my concern have a roadside assistance come out. This video will allow me to provide a removal guide to them .

I hope to never experience the use of this technology. Since my wife drives while I work, I have a higher level of confidence she and the dog will have a higher chance of handling a front tire blowout.

Thanks for sharing
