Vroom slide systems
We have a 2020 33aa and the drivers side schwintek system started eating itself. A call to Brian at Vroom about the problem coming up on a long trip and he managed to get a date for me on short notice. A drive from June Lake to Tucson and one day for the work fixed it for good. Brian suggested we not do the pax side since the load is less.
Super happy with Vroom, Brian, and Amanda (office lead).
Final bill $3680.

A cost data point for folk. I just had my passenger rear Schwintek system replaced and it was $2700 total. It was basically half labor and half parts. The new parts are supposedly upgraded from original, but I did not really ask what is better about it. Works very nice, so I am happy.

Was your repair done at the Lippert factory? I'm curious to hear if they have upgraded their materials. The Tiffin shop near me stated that they think Lippert actually downgraded their materials and they are seeing repeated failures.

No, done at a local shop here in California. My shop said it was upgraded materials.

You must have gotten my parts! I'm still waiting on Lippert to ship the last kit I need to start this repair.

Glad to know you got it fixed! I know there are lots of others that would love to know how the parts are an upgrade. With all of the failures and with the cost of Vroom now being so high, it would be good to know if/how Lippert is upgrading the parts. Wonder if your shop would be willing to pass on the details on what they know about the upgrade? If Lippert is upgrading to something beefier and more reliable, it may help others to know.

I read a lot of posts about these Schwintek failures and decided I'd better reduce the load on those motors and gears as much as possible before they fail. I unloaded all the overhead cabinets in the slides of everything except very light things like pillows and put them in other storage. We put nothing under or on the slide's dinette table, seating, recliners or sofas during extension or retraction, limit drawer contents under dinette seats and sitting in the slides during motion is also prohibited. So far so good.
I have a friend with the same unit as mine, an Allegro 340 38LL floorplan with the very long DS slide. He had the Vroom system put in his in Red Bay and even it didn't work right until the Vroom rep arrived to adjust it and train Tiffin reps in person. That slide may just be too big to operate with a lot of weight in it. I think it must have ten or twelve cabinets overhead and big drawers under the dinette seats. More storage is at the front end than aft, maybe putting uneven loads on the ends. At first I had all my Tiffin manuals and other directories, charts, etc. overhead. No more.
