Shower Drain Leaking

We have a 2013 Allegro Bus and we noticed water leaking between the tile flooring and the shower unit. I removed the drain screen and tried to unscrew the drain but noticed that it wasn’t threaded into the drain pipe as I expected. I’m able to get the drain to move slightly when I try to turn it counterclockwise. Does anyone have experience removing this type of drain?

I have a Fleetwood Discovery and my shower unit is raised above the bathroom floor.

There is an access panel at the bottom of my shower unit between the shower unit and floor. See if you have an access panel as well. Mine does not have a lot of room to work in but I can access the trap under the shower.

Maybe there is a panel underneath from the basement area on yours? Good Luck.

It's hard for me to say how Tiffin does their plumbing, but I had the experience of rebuilding the shower drain in a 2000 Coachman due to rigid plastic drain plumbing under a somewhat flexy shower pan. Because of space constraints, I had to be creative and found some plumbing parts at ACE Hardware that allowed more flexibility than the originals.

And I ended up removing some wall panel to get access to the space under the shower.

More than likely the hepo valve drain is cracked, at least ours was. On the wall behind the shower look for a vented wooden rectangular cover down at floor level. Remove the cover and you will have access to the drain. I had ours replaced by Tiffin in Red Bay. It is not an easy job, lots of sharp edges and plywood splinters. Took 2 techs 1.5 hours to do the job and they new exactly what they were doing. Good luck doing it yourself.

Two techs??? What was the second one for?, morale and companionship?? That panel is so small, you can hardly get your arms in .

Had/Have a similar problem on my 2014 40AH. In this floor plan the wood panel on back right side of shower out in the galley (lower right of 2) opens. Has hidden hinges and opens to area behind tv. I can see bottom of shower and drain plumbing where there is small leak. I placed a small Tupperware container under it to catch drips and works for now doesn’t overflow till i can get to Red Bay. Not sure i can access it enough to repair myself, VERY tight squeeze.

If you ever actually do the job you will understand why two techs are faster than one. One works under the drain and the other works in the shower above the drain helping position and stabilize all the needed pieces while the pipe glue dries.
