Slide Adjustment - HWH Spacemaker

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2011 Tiffin Phaeton 40qkh. When I purchased I didn't notice any issues with the slides, but now I've noticed when the drivers side hydraulic slide comes in, it's not quite all the way retracted in the bottom right of the slide. The other three corners are flush but the bottom right is about 1/2 inch off. Any ideas how to make adjustments to this? What would cause this to happen?

The slide is an HWH Spacemaker.

I've extended and retracted the slides several times in hopes of getting them to align but that hasn't worked.

Don't know if your setup is the same, but I had a similar issue with our 2007 Itasca Ellipse with HWH slides. Finally discovered there is a bolt at each slide ram that can be adjusted to stop the slide as it is retracted. Run the bolt in to allow the slide to retract farther, out to stop the slide retracting sooner. Photos show the gap in our slide before adjustment, and the slide stop adjusting bolt.

Thanks dwkerch. Quick Question - was your slide out evenly at the top and bottom or just at the bottom (I can't tell from your picture).

I had a similar problem with similar adjusting bolts. Your's may look a bit different but the function is the same. They also adjust to take care of any differences between the two sides. If I recall correctly, once the bottom is adjusted, the top takes care of itself.

On our 2014 Allegro Bus 37AP, there is an oval hole under the slide where the slide mechanism is attached to the outside of the slide. If the bolt came loose just a little, the slide would drop down a little (and the bolt in the slot would be at the top of that slot).

I'd look at the 2 slide skids (?, not sure what they call them) to see if the bolts are in the same place in the slots.

Yup--the adjustment bolt on each ram is something to check--plus, do you let the HWH pump load up for a second or too when closing? This helps the synchronizer tube balance out the two rams. Also helps hold the slide in place while traveling, if you dont have slide locks.

dgrundei - I seem to remember that our slide had about the same gap from top to bottom before I adjusted it. Don't know how your slides are configured, but I have seen several that, when retracted, come in at the top a bit ahead of the bottom. Our '99 Diplomat worked that way. As BCam stated, the proper adjustment should take care of the uneven seating of the retracted slide.

Hello All,

As an update - I've been able to research every detail of my slide mechanism. The Jam Nut is not the issue --- I thought for sure it would be - but the Jam nut is fine. Now I'm brainstorming what could possibly be causing the bottom of the slide not to travel all the way in. Any other brainstorming ideas are welcomed --

Thanks again,
