Slide Issue

We have a problem with our front passenger slide. When retracting the slide nothing happens. We then close the driver side, turn off the engine and try again. It then comes in without a problem. Never a problem when we are extending it.

Ideas as to the problem!

I have had problems with my DS spider system when retracting. You shut off the house batteries and pull the 5 amp fuse for 5 minutes and it resets everything. I have been told by Tiffin that I should shut off both sets of batteries and pull both fuses (the fuses are in a small block on an orange wire right by the disconnects on both sets of batteries) and wait 5 minutes. I did it once for a spider/slide issue and once for a total reboot due to electrical issues at an RV park and it worked both times.

Nick, If I remember your DS slide is electric mechanical and the PS side is hydraulic? Do you hear the HWH pump running when you try to retract? If so, you have two solenoids on the HWH manifold, one to retract and one to extend. It sounds like the retract solenoid may be intermittently failing. If you don't hear the pump running, then it may be the master solenoid on the pump with burned or corroded connectors.

Both front slides are hydraulic. When the switch is pressed there is dead silence.

Lt. Dan on this forum has an excellent document on troubleshooting. It solved my issue. I suspect one of the solenoids is bad. Get your volt meter out and check the voltage coming out of the 2 solenoids when you hit the retract or extend button.
