Slide out added to this compartment??

I want to better use this really deep compartment it's about 56" deep and the opening is 20" wide. However the 3" radius corners limit the "Tray" to a much smaller width.

Has anyone added a slide? did you cut out the radius to make the width 20" and install a new seal?

many thanks for your input.

You might consider a wider tray with spacers to get above part/ most of the curve.
You can still use the space under for long narrow items.
SlideMaster makes custom width / length slides that are high quality and maximize space. I love mine and highly V recommend them.

That is how our slide is installed. This is the small tray, but the large one is the same. I wouldn't do major surgery to add a few inches. Click image for larger version

On our '19 Phaeton 40IH, I think the tray we installed was a moryde 56x20 and it fit perfectly. Installed by Brannon @ Custom RV. I don't remember exact dimensions of bay, but it might have been slightly larger than yours

Many thanks Winemaker2..... I had found that SlideMaster vendor since they offer slide units to your measurements.

I hadn't though about using the space under the slide for long items. I'll reconsider how to better us the area if the slide is raised 2-3" . Great place to put those items.

One other thought you might ask SlideMaster about is whether they could mount the slide mechanism inboard from the edge under the tray.
If so that would make the lower slide mechanism fit between the curve and the tray itself closer to the full width.
I found the SM rep very helpful with design & option questions. They also provided spacers the height requested.
Just a tip that if you go with them and can arrange shipment to a commercial business it is less expensive than to home. I had to scramble at last minute to arrange that but was able and saved $.

I use that area for my tools. I built a slide that holds my tool bag in the front and larger battery operated tools in the back. I hang the battery charger and drills on the left wall. I did raise the slide out up to get around the curved frame and then put a 2 inch high wood box "drawer" under the slide out for things such as drill bits, saw blades, socket set, etc. It really works out well for me. I even shaped the slide out so it would be wider in the front and narrower in the back to get around the vacuum that hangs on the wall in the back on the left.

Just installed one custom ordered from Slidemaster. My 2019 40IP bus has slightly wider compartment. I got 23" X 58" slide without tray. Made my own out of plywood. Used 2x3 boards to raise it above the opening lip.

I just measured the compartment in my '19 40IH - it is 26" x 61". So the 20x60 tray was just a bolt in and left a few inches on one side for odds and ends.

Any chance you could post a picture of the install. I am considering doing the same.

Thanks.
