Slide Rams With Considerable Overspray

Any tips on cleaning these up? Mr driver side rams have quite a bit of overspray on the underside and are rough. I have been reading previous threads about slide glides, Lt Dan has great advice and instructions including recommendation to clean up the rams (THANKS Lt Dan!). Fortunately my glides are not broken yet but these rams look rough. Will lubricating the slide glides help until I get the chance to sand off the overspray?

That overspray will eventually cause enough friction to split the glide block. While replacing the blocks aren't hard its simply a pain to avoid.

I took a scraper and peeled up the overspray then with an orbital sander fine sanded the surface until all of that was gone and the surface was smooth.

I tend to wipe a little wd-40 on that surface before we pull in the slide as part of our pre-travel work. I also wipe the hydraulic rams for the slide to get the dirt and grit of of them.

Note: the wear pattern in the slide marks also tell you how well these are carrying the load. you can see the wear isn't evenly distributed between the two blocks.

Thanks Devoir - I’m going to go at them with a scraper/putty knife and sander to clean them up. Agreed that prolonging the inevitable is always a good plan. Thankfully the passenger side rams are clean with zero overspray.

I thought Tiffin stopped doing that. Brake cleaner and elbow grease is how I got mine clean. Stan

So far we have heard sanding, scraping, and brake fluid as means to remove this.
What worked for you?

Scrapped the thickest parts off first, the a slow speed buffer with an abrasive pad. Find a table you can lay on to do the job. Took me a little over an hour. And then, like somebody mentioned, spray it down, I used T-9.
