Smile Slide Roller Marks on Floor

I have a 2016 Tiffin Allegro 36LA with a vinyl tile floor. When the living room slide opens or closes the rollers it slides on leaves marks on my floor. The marks are from debris on the rollers. Motorhome Magazine had an article on this a while back which described the problem and solutions.

The only commercial solution I can find is made by Newmar, and they are removable strips that you put down and pick up each time you open or close the slide. The problem: $40.00 each, and I need four.

Anyone found a less expensive option, short of jury rigging something?

Happy Trails, Forrest

Forest call Tiffin and ask them about their fix. I've seen it discussed before but I can't remember what the fix was.

If you are not a member of the Tiffin RV Network you should check into it. The owners there have a lot of information.

LCI (Lippert) makes a 'slide out slicker'
40" long.....2 per package

Slide-Out Slicker

On sale at RV & Auto Parts
$34.57 + $9.49 Shipping

AP Products 013-410051 Slide-Out Slickers 40" Lippert 1/pr

They have small teets on bottomside to grab carpet but could cut them off to use on non-carpet flooring.

At one time, we used the plastic cutting boards. Just placed them at the roller points when the slides come in.

A lot of folks use UHMW polyurethane rubberized tape. You can get on Amazon.

get a few luxury vinyl planks from a full service flooring store- they probably have a box open- that is what I give folks for their slide to roll on

Interesting. We too have this happen on our Tile floor. I am thinking that those thin rollup cutting boards might be the answer. Just need to remember where the mark is when it isn't there so that the protector can be properly placed. Also I don't want to lose it under the slide.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the quick responses, the Lippert solution looks good and reasonably priced. Just not sure about the grippers, we will see.

Thanks again, Forrest

The lippert ones look like they are tapered. They may be for the typical TT slide that has no rollers and just hangs in the air above the floor. Make sure you have the clearance you need.

I wonder if something as simple as a plastic placemats would work?

If the lippert one seems like it would work then you might be able to get 1/8" thick strips of PVC trim from Home Depot/Lowes etc. and lay them on the floor. Mark them so you always put the same side up (the side that will take abuse from the rollers).
