Slide Topper awning will not retract

I have a 2019 45 OPP Bus. We recently stayed at the KOA Madeira Beach resort and we were parked under a large tree that literally shed hundreds of acorns every day. Daily, I would use the ladder to get up and blow the acorns off because I feared they might hinder the slide topped mechanism when the slide was pulled in when we left.

Well, in spite my efforts, it appeared my fears were right. When the rear slide on the drivers side is retracted, the awning begins to roll in for about 6 inches. It then stops and just "folds in" when the slide is retracted. I have put the slide in and out several times and it happens every time.

Does anyone have suggestions for me. I can always attempt to remove the covers and take things apart, but I would really try to avoid that.

Thanks in advance. Y'all are always helpful

I don't know the specifics of yours but removing the cover should be enough to free the debris.

Get the model and serial number for the topper off your paper in the rear closet (could be in another location). Go to the manufacturer website and get the manual. On my Phaeton, you can remove one screw on each side and the cover will pivot open like the hood of a car. That will hopefully allow you to clear whatever obstruction is causing the issue.

Thanks

I have the manual and know how to disassemble. I was just hoping to avoid that.

Will probably get on the ladder and try to clean out (blow out) debris, and then take the cover off if needed.

Mine is a Girard system and I have had the same problem on one slide. I had to take off the end cap, release the spring tension and retighten it up then it worked, for several times then it happened again. Nothing was in there jamming it up either. Not real fun when getting ready to leave let alone standing on a ladder doing this work. Still trying to figure it out and if I have any solutions I will post, good luck.
