Slow Ice.
Hi Guys,
I am having problems with my gas/elect. icemaker. It is very slow in making ice.The dealer had to replace the water supply line and ever since then it hadn't worked right.I read somewhere there is a setting that can be changed to where it will produce ice a little quicker, does anyone know of that setting? Thank you for your response.Safe travels.

Don't know setting, I would suggest just getting some ice cube trays and turning off the ice maker. Dave

Not sure that post was much help,,, if the a/c stops buy a fan, if the water heater stops boil water on the stove, if the lights quit get a candle, if the engine dies stay home. That train of thought wouldn't get it for me.
Is this a separate Ice maker, or part of your frig? Can you share brand, and model? The "Fast" ice options I have seen is related to the size of the cubes you want. Smaller cubes are made faster, larger take longer. There are settings for that.
Changing the water line should not affect that, unless they changed the ice cube size along the way of doing that?

The cycle of the ice maker will not advance until the ice mold reaches a certain temperature (I think 18ºF). As far as I know, this can not be changed.
The only way to speed up the ice making cycle would be to make the ice cubes smaller as Lloyd said. There is an adjustment on the front of the ice maker for this (see below). Note: some ice makers are installed sideways in the freezer and need to be removed to get the cover off the front.
The water line from the valve to the freezer of an RV refrigerator has a heater on it to keep it from freezing in cold weather. It's possible when the dealer replaced the water line, they did not hook up the heater properly and/or the thermostat has failed and is on all the time. If the water is warm, it will take longer to freeze.

Lloyd SC - I think icemakers in RV's are just another RV problem that should be avoided. Dave

I agree I pulled mine when the fill line split and replaced with tray, Much happier.
Note the photo above the adjustment screw may be located in a different location, Mine is above the big gear wheel.. But other than "Placement of adjuster may vary" everything else applies.
How it works:
When the ice tray gets cold enough (I think 25F but not sure) a thermostat closes and starts the motor, it also starts a heater, As the motor turns the big gear a Micro Swich, operated by a cam attached to the main shaft, closes and keeps the motor (And heater) on, as the plastic fingers connect with the ice the motor stalls (This motor is designed so that does not harm it) till enough ice melts (Why there is a heater) melted to let the crescents move. The fingers then push the forzen ice out of the way, a 2nd microswitch which is positioned in part by that adjustment closes when the cam rises enough and opens the water valve, at this point the motor is turning freely.. As the cam continues to turn the 2nd microswitch opens and stops water flow, Meanwhile the heater has warmed things enough to open the T-Stat.. The motor continues to turn till the fingers get to the RESTING position then the 1st Microswitch opens and all stops till it chills out.
What can "Slow" production is if the water setting (the only adjustment there is) is so low that it takes 2 cycles to fill the ice tray.
OR. if the freezer is not cold enough.

On ours the colder I keep the setting for the refrigerator the faster the ice maker works. It works best when plugged into 50 AMP.
