Smell in sink drain.

Has anyone experienced a smell coming from the drains in the sink after emptying the black water in a 2013 phaeton.

You need to clean and flush your gray tank (and stop letting food stuffs go down the tank). Easiest way clean it is get some Happy Camper tank cleaner (available from Amazon).

The second thing you need to check is the Air Admittance Valves (AAVs) located beneath the sinks. If they stick open, then you can get smells from the gray tank.

And finally, make sure your washer/dryer trap has water in it.

You should have noticed that nothing in my answer indicated that the black tank needed anything. It's not connected to anything that vents back into the coach other than the toilet itself.

Which sink?

If your 2013 phaeton is plumbed like many other coaches, (including my '96 Safari), the bathroom sink drains into the black tank....while the kitchen sink, (and the shower), drain into the gray tank.

BTW I owned my coach for 10 years before I discovered that.

Tiffin does not drain the bathroom sink into the black tank. Gray and black water are kept separate.

Our stink comes up from the kitchen and washer pipes. The tiffin manual suggests keeping water in the pipes while traveling. This is hard to do. I saw the Hepv value in the Family Motorcoach Magazine. This seems to be the solution.

P traps will hold water when traveling and Tiffin probably has already used a Hepv in your kitchen sink. You need to run your washer once in a while to keep water in the washer trap. Clean your gray tank and check and/or replace your AAVs.

Nope. They didn't in ours. I can't tell you how many times we have had to run back and put water back down the sink while our eyes are watering on a bumpy road drive. We have air AAV valves and changed those right off after our first trip, which did no good. Have even tried antifreeze which is supposed to be heavier.
