Solar Prep Option for Allegro Open Road
Hello All,
We placed an order for a 2020 Open Road 32SA from Davis a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the Solar Prep Option, but am curious what that gets me. Is it just the wiring from the roof to the battery bay or...? What gauge wiring?
Thanks.
John

It includes wiring from the roof to the battery bay via a compartment that would contain the controller. On my Phaeton, it's the one over the drivers seat. Not sure of the gauge because I don't have any panels at this time.

My 2018 32SA has the option and the wiring is 8 gauge which does have it's limitations. Very possible the newer ones are bigger.
I know some who have ordered their coaches have requested a larger gauge wire for the Solar option.

We have a 19 32SA. Standard wiring is 8 gauge. We got 4 gauge as a special. This wiring is from the roof to the area above the drivers head where you find the Magnum controller and wiring from there back to the battery bay.

We actually had a 2016 36LA that we ordered in middle 2015. It was great, but we got the DP bug and traded and got a Ventana. It to was great, however, it was expensive to maintain, and we knew that going in, but just didn't feel we utilized it enough to justify the expense. So, we sold it and got out of RVing for a bit and now are going back into the gasser market. We almost went back to Newmar, but they have quotas for the number of chassis are sold and we missed out on that. Plus with them being acquired by Winnebago we didn't know how that was going to play out. We are very excited to get back in the Tiffin family, but just waiting til February 2020 when it should be built is so hard.

Ive always said it's really hard to justify a DP if you are under 40 feet and you dont have a need to tow something big. The costs just dont work. Glad you're back!!
