Steps quit working

All good when we left. Drove about 150 miles and steps won’t come out. I. Middle of a trip. Checked the fuse in the bay below the drivers seat. That’s good. Suspect another fuse somewhere. Any ideas. Thanks.

Is the step power switch turned on? Usually found near the passenger seat.

Sometimes the contacts get some rust build up if you haven’t been using the motorhome for a while. You may can give the step motor a little love tap and see if that will help or check the contacts in the door. Of course our tech support is at your disposal if you need further assistance.

Shawn, will try the love tap. Assume the door contacts are midway up the door? Thanks.

Do the step make any attempt to move or make any sound? The gear motor on these are notorious for stripping gears or seizing up.

No noise, no anything. Steps fully retracted. Not at rv now but will try the love tap tomorrow.

Got back to rv, unlocked door, and steps worked as always. Did absolutely nothing. Not sure of cause! But as a wise man once told me, never argue technique with a Trapper who has a skin on the wall. Thanks all for your input

Since it mysteriously started working I'd recommend cleaning the electrical contacts.

The motor is in a 'wet' area so you may have rust and/or likely, corrosion. Ensure you're also lubricating regularly so the assembly doesn't have to work as hard and lead to premature failure. I carry a spare motor and transmission (gear box) because if and when mine fails, thanks to Murphy, it wont be at home.

Good luck
