Storage slide tray

I'm planning on having a storage slide tray installed next week while in Red Bay. Would like some opinions as to the pros and cons of the tray. Thanks

More convenient, added weight, but you lose a lot of storage volume... maybe half. Most noticeable in the reduction in height in that bay.

If you go with a full length slide, your frame rails will be deciding height limit for storage. If I were to do it again, I would go with 2 half length slides rather than my full length.

fwiw...... I cut the one sliding tray I had down to 2/3's it's length freeing up ALL the space in my large compartment on the driver's side. So now it only comes out on the PS and I'm really please with the hight and depth of the space created on the DS.

Agree.

Someone here iirc made shelving to utilize the normally unusable area caused by the frame rails.

The good, much easier on my back to load and unload heavy stuff.
You can store some flat items underneath the slide tray, i have tv trays under it.
The bad, it adds weight and yes their is some height loss but i think its worth it.

You'll loose 8 to 12" in width and 3 to 4" in height for that bay. That said, you won't have to empty out half the bay anytime you want whatever is in the middle.

The half sliders are worth considering. We have three sliders, two are full width, one in half. I can store taller items in the front part of the half and never have to worry about interference with the frame rails.

Waste of money unless you are putt an extra cooler down there. Something more to rattle when going down the road.

I added three half length trays to mine and my own personal opinion I would not be without them. My back and temper are much the better for having them.

Is it possible to cut the full-length trays in the middle so that they can be pulled out to each side?

That would depend on where the rollers are positioned and how much effort you want to expend. What would you do close off the cut sections?

As lass said, it would depend on the way they are set up. I built my own, so I was free to make them however I wanted. I used plywood, 1x pine and heavy duty drawer (500lb) drawer slides.

Ditto on two half length trays.
