Super Steer MCU's (motion control units)

2021 Allegro Red 33aa

Appreciate feedback/experience on the effectiveness and cost estimate of installing super steer MCU's to improve sway (control air bag air in/out).

Still searching for improved handing & ride with crosswinds, trucks, etc.

Thanks

Installed on my Country Coach but only in the front bags. I notice some improvement and worth the costs. I installed it which is very easy. Just cut the existing line and push on ends. I can't remember if it was 3 or 6 inches from bags as recommended. You do have to blow all air tanks to make sure it's all the way down.

Our 2014 Allegro Bus 37AP has both the Kona shocks and MCUs on all 4 corners. This was done by the prior owner, so I can't say how it did before they were installed. However, I will say it drives very well. I think it is the best handling MH I drove while looking, except the Newmar Mountain Air 45'er with the tag axle.

I added them to my tandem axle Phaeton when I had it. Well worth it. I put them all the way around. It did maybe seem to make the ride a tad bit harsher, but significantly improved stability entering into the driveway, going around corners, etc. With a tag, never really had much of an issue with crosswinds nor trucks.

I have the MCU's at all 4 corners on out Breeze. This should be considered a subjective opinion.

Our Breeze was excessively low, as built on the Powerglide chassis. We had the front valance hit the roadway when we were exiting a gas station. There was a slight drain channel between the gas station pavement and the roadway. Bodyshop cost was about $2.5K.

The "Porpoising" and bobbing, over roadway irregularities, with the addition of the MSUs was significantly reduced. We also had the ride height increased by about 1.5". That reduced the frequent interference fit between the steps and the ground.

Had all for corners on my Ventana done. Really improved the ride and reduced roll in turns. My wife no longer grabs the step rail in turns.

When we had our 2018 Red 37PA we put the supersteer, motion control sensors and new Koni shocks after the first year of ownership. Improvement was marginal, psychologically big improvement. Would not do it again, just my two cents.

I just had the supersteers and Koni shocks installed on my Monaco Windsor. 8x8. Have only driven it 100 miles but the difference was notable. What's comfort worth?

Problem with the 33 is wheelbase VS overall coach length. Coach is a "sail" at the rear, overall length is over 2 times wheelbase length. All the "accessories" in the world will not make up for good old fashion wheelbase.

2020 Breeze

We put the Super Steer units on all four corners of our 2020 Breeze. Prior to this the wind would just pull us all over the road. After I would estimate a 80% improvement. Should be at a minimum factory option as well worth it.

MCUs have significantly reduced swaying in cross winds and made my tiffin much more drive able. I will put MCUs on my next MH as well. I also had to upgrade the front shocks to eliminate porpoising.

Hi,
As the other comments said it will improve the handling however it absolutely makes the ride harsher. Big time issue if you are not experiencing a drifting soft ride. I had an 18 RED and the ride was so harsh I had to remove them. The Konis made a difference and they were worth it. Had Red Bay Diesel install the motion controls for $600. Cost another $600 for removing them.

I found on my Ventana that the MCU's did not make the ride harsher. It improved the ride from driving like a sofa to driving more like a car. YMMV
