I have a 2017 34PA with two thermostats. One for the rear air-conditioner and the other for the front air-conditioner and electric heat pump. The front thermostat does not read the correct temp. I am hoping someone knows how to fix this? Also, these thermostats that came with my RV seem pretty antiquated. Is there a newer style of thermostats available to replace them with?

Check the connection at the thermistor in the ceiling . They have been known to have bad connections. It’s a small white button mounted near an air inlet for the AC?

How much is it off? Swap the two temp sensors. That would help isolate problem.

Occasionally, one of the three stats in my coach will show a way low room temp. Have checked all the sensors and they are tight/wired good. I just run the set temp down (AC) or up (heat) enough to get the unit to come on. Sooner or later, they correct themselves.
What the real fix is I don't know...

I'm having a similar problem, where my front and mid AC/Heat pump thermostats read way too different sometimes. The thermostats are side by side in a front cabinet, so it's easy to see the difference. The ceiling sensors are in the same room... LOL. One towards the front and one towards the back. I'd expect the two readings to be close. I had service provide a replacement thermostat under warranty, but it really didn't make much difference.

I haven't fixed it yet, but I'm guessing that the wire from the front sensor to the thermostat was punctured by a nail or staple during assembly and now the wire goes open or shorted occasionally. I'd like to replace the wire, but it's too tight to pull. Maybe it's fixed with a wire tie or something. Please keep us posted on how you resolve this. I will too.

Brad, it's a common problem usually caused by loose contact or corrosion. Go go to the air return vent closest to the sensor with the faulty reading. Feel inside the duct and you'll find the sensor wires. If you can pull them out far enough through the duct to reach the connectors, use a pair of pliers and recrimp the connections. If you can't pull it out far enough, remove the sensor from the ceiling and pull the wires out far enough to reach the connectors and recrimp. The very best solution is to solder the wires to avoid any corrosion.

Lt Dan is right on. Many do not realize that the temperature reading is not done at the Thermostat rather it is at the ceiling mounted thermistor. Re-crimping the connections will usually solve many problems.

Thanks for all your replies. I havent had a chance to look at the wires or the connections yet, but I will at first chance. We are having a cold snap here in Iowa and I have the RV in the storage shed for now. Hope to have it out for a southern trip after the 1st of the year. Again thanks for your help!!!

Dan, I checked inside the air return next to the sensor and sure enough, I found the wires, the 2 crimped butt connectors, and the top of the sensor. It's stuck in the hole with putty. I plan to replace the butt connections with soldered connections. Things were working fine when I checked this. The real test will be when I'm on the road and needing the A/C to do the right thing.
