Thinking Tiffin
I own a 2018 Thor Windsport 29M that we bought new, it now has 9K miles. We are very happy with the Windsport and have added many extras including 3k in suspension upgrades.
Every time we go to a show or dealer we are drawn to the Tiffin Allegro? They just seem so much better made but they have the same motor and chassie as my Thor. But there are things on the Tiffin that we just love.
Its just hard to trade in a 2018 that we like,if you understand what I mean.
Anyone out there that can tell me if it is worth the trade?

This is one of those questions you have to ask yourself, just know your current coach will never be worth more than it is today.

No, we cannot tell you if it's worth the trade. Only you can decide that.

You'll get eaten alive on a trade with regard to depreciation, especially if you are looking at another gasser. If you have a coach you like, try and stick it out for another couple of years. Tiffin's are great, but any new coach has issues, you might not do any better. With that said, if the money isn't an issue and you are dreaming about a diesel pusher, you can't go wrong with an Allegro Bus or a Phaeton.

We traded up from a Thor Hurricane to a Tiffin Allegro RED a year ago. Best decision we ever made. Huge difference in quality and there is no comparison between Thor and Tiffin customer service.

you've made lots of impovements on your thor...
i have limited experience in the rv world, but...
i've now traded in 2 coaches.. a coachmen (don't do that !) and a tiffin. (for a tiffin)
i had done upgrades
the dealers i talked to wanted to give me no credit for the upgrades, on either trade..
so, if you are considering trading. see if you can sell it yourself... you are likely to get more $$ knowledgeable prospects will appreciate your upgrades. be willing to show them the invoices and be ready/able to discuss the advantages. since you are not anxious to sell this month, you have time to make a good decision selling and buying!

The Allegro Open Road is more comparable to the Thor Challenger regarding features (Full basement, larger chassis, full body paint, etc). I've never owned a Thor product, but from all I read on the various forums, Tiffin makes a better product overall and customer service is superior. The chassis in general will be the same but the Tiffin will be on a 26kLb chassis vs. 18kLb for the Windsport. You might be able to move some of the upgrades made to the new rig.
Only you can determine if upgrading is worth the $$.

Generally, for a given length gasser a Tiffin will be on a sturdier chassis and have a longer wheelbase. These are beneficial things.

Agreed. You won't need the suspension upgrades on the 26K chassis Tiffin. Ours handled great right out of the box. I did get the 5Star 87 Octane RV tune and really like the low end torque and power after 3K miles without it. (this coming from a previous DP owner)Only you know what makes you happy. Chances are if you got a good deal on your Thor you'll get a good deal on your Tiffin.

How can that be ? As ALL gas chassis today are Ford F53, NO matter who the coach builder is.

The Ford F53 is available in a variety of wheelbases and load ratings.
