Tifffin 2014 QBH, Steps stopped working
Getting some solar work done, I backed the RV from the garage and the steps operated for about 5 minutes opening and closing the door. Suddenly, the steps stop extending and has not worked since. I checked all the fuses and everything is fine. I checked the wires on the motor they appear to be firmly connected. There is an unconnected wire hanging down in the area of , I am not sure what it connects to, is it a diagnostic wire?
Hard for this old man to get into the. RV with no ste ps...

I had the same problem accept the loose wire, mine has a connector from the step to the chassis wiring harness and when trying to unplug it the step came down. cleaned up the plug and no problem since. good luck

Have you checked the contacts at the door jamb? Anyone hit the steps switch by the stairs?

I have checked the Motor and it appears to be the controller not getting power, however it has worked twice, but it stopped working again.

On our QBH, there was a plastic electrical LBU near the steps that contained the step wiring. It was not sealed very well and all the wires inside were wet. You might want to check there for a poor connection.

garykk's post above is exactly what I found. that plug was in there pretty tight and I had a hard time getting to it but once I did and cleaned up its been fine so far. be careful where you put you had in there if the step comes down when wiggling the connector it could hurt. I went under from the front. I did not have a loose wire as stated in the original post so I cant say why it there. B.O

If my memory is good, our QBH had an extra wire that Tiffin did not use and it just hung there. Does the wire look like it’s been connected to something, ie stripped on the end etc.
The steps on our bus did the same thing and it was a poor connection in that LBU as well.

Ditto on the loose wire in my ‘18 QBH. Not used. With intermittent operation, I’d be thinking grounds too. Just disturbing and pulling on the wire harness could make and break grounds. I remember three different ground connections (green wires) on mine. I use a wire brush in a drill to get down to shiny metal. Good Luck. Intermittent electrical devices are aggravating.
