Hi - I am new to this board and have been looking at the Tiffin gas MH line. I approached a dealer about a2008 Open Road they had o their lot. I offered them about 25% of MSRP and they weren't very receptive. They said the Allegro 32BA would be more negotiable. Does anyone know the differences, etc? Thanks

I'm not familiar with the Open Road, but in general, I've seen that dealers are willing to deal more on the higher priced rigs, or those that have a greater difference between the MSRP and their cost.

I'm just making numbers up here as an example, but lets suppose dealer cost is 70% of MSRP (I know that's not accurate) If so, a rig with MSRP of $100K costs the dealer $70K. He may only be willing to sell it for 20% of list or 80,000 to make a profit of $10,000.

On the other hand, a 200,000 motorhome that costs the dealer 140,000 the dealer can offer 25% off sellingit for 150,000 and still make the same 10,000 profit.

But then again....maybe the dealer just won't deal on a more popular model that he know's he can for a higher price.

The Open Road is a name sort of hung on the Allegro line. A 32BA is an Allegro, just like a 34TGA, 35TSA, 28DA, 30DA, etc. The 32BA was a nice coach but since the 34TGA came out a large number of sales have gone to the 34TGA. My brother-in-law recently bought a 2007 34TGA and it's a great coach for the money.

Joe's point about a higher priced coach getting a better discount is valid. If you are looking at a 30DA or 28DA ther's not as many profit dollars in it for the dealer so the discounts will be less than on a more expensive unit. While 25-26% is typical on an Allegro Bus, you'll be seeing a few less percentage points when discounting a 30DA or similarly priced coach.

I'd give the 34TGA a serious look if you are looking at Allegros. It's an awesome floorplan for that size coach.

We have an Open Road with 3 slides (2 in the BR). Love it. Lots of room at 35'. Keep in mind the Allegro is entry level. Our Bus had lots more options & bells & whistles.
