What model year is your Phaeton? And do you have any tech data showing who the mirror vendor is?

On some models, you can just replace the head instead of the whole mirror.

It is a 2013 36GH. The vendor is VELVAC.

I would definitely call Velvac. I replaced a head unit on my Open Road thru them. They have a Tech Support (real person) line you can use to discuss your issue, and a parts department. They can also provide tech manual info you might not have.
