Tiffin, paint checking?
I am looking to replace my 1999 Monaco, I have seen many coaches with the paint on sidewalls checking or having weblike cracks. I havn.t seen any Tiffins yet, I am looking for used 2002 to 2005. Has tiffin had any paint troubles like that?
Thanks
John G.

Yes the dark paints appear to have more of any issue. I have a 2008 partial paint which is mostly white and no cracking issues in three years. WHen people see it in a campground most think it's new.

I have an 05 with full body paint. There is a small amount of black. No paint problems with any of the colors. This was the first year that I have waxed it.

We have a 2006 and fulltime. There is a very slight amount of "crazing" of the black paint on one of our bedroom slides. About 1/2 of our year is spent in the extreme tip of Texas and southern Arizona.

I have an 08 Allegro Bus full body paint. The only issue is on 1 slide top corner where it didn't adhere very well, no spider webs though.

Usually it's not a "paint problem", it's the surface of the wall panel that's cracking underneath the paint.

Tiffin - cracking -paint
I just had to walk away from a 2006 Allegro ( for sale ) because of this issue. My friend is helping me check them out when we discovered what you have described. He explained that this is called "microcracking" It is a problem on dark surfaces on the body of the RV ..not found just on Tiffins . Seems to be a problem with the manufacturer of the fibreglass gel coat .. I believe it is Corning .I went on their site ( corning ) but found nothing specific about this on RVs...
My friend told me to "run "from this as it is a costly deteriorating problem. I would like to hear more from others about it as well...Thanks

It was a Dow issue on many name brand units from 03 on. I do not know where, year, it ends.

Tiffin has the spiderweb cracking problem mainly on '07 and up with large areas of black. It's the gel coat under the paint that is cracking.
We have an '05 with full paint like Coffee Guy. We do not have the spiderweb cracks, but we did have several areas on top of the front cap where the clear coat peeled. That has since been repainted ($700). We now have the same problem on the tops of the roof radius. This is a totally different problem that can sometimes happen on any coach, and I have even seen it on cars. Although peeling clear coat can be caused by several things, the most common cause is the clear coat is not thick enough or was not applied wet enough.

Thanks for the heads up. We have a 2011 open road. We will certainly keep an eye out for this issue.
