Tiffin RED 38QBA

I've run across a local ad for a 2009 Tiffin RED 38QBA. It is being sold through a "broker" and has 29K on the clock. It looks pretty much "fully equipped (Cent Vac, Washer Dryer, 2 ACs, Doors on Bunk Area, etc) and they are asking $110K for it with offers being accepted.

I have researched this model, before, and my main reason for looking at it is the extra room for family.

I'd like to hear what others think of this model, and this year, if possible. The research I have done suggest it is worth about $83K, retail, plus maybe a little more for low mileage and equipment.

Any thoughts?

i LOVE that floorplan. We ALMOST bought one once.

Things to check..

How many a/c's does it have? What Size Each? This unit could be ordered with 1 or 2 a/c's in 13.5k or 15k sizes.

Double or single pane windows?

How old are the tires? These are EXPENSIVE to replace. I mean, like jaw dropping expensive. And no matter how they look, at 7 years, they must be replaced. All big rig tires have a date code on them, ask for them to provide the date codes and tire make and model.

Use RVtrader.com and search nationwide for the same model to get a grip on current asking prices. Then know there has to gotta be some wiggle room. Brokers, I would guess, want as much as they can get.

So in my book, if you have to pony up new tires, and it only has one 13.5k AC and it has single pane windows (standard for that model) then I'd say it's worth about 10,000 - 15,000 less than the same unit with new tires, and 2 15k AC units.

Matter of fact, I'd pass if it only had one a/c, and search for one with both 15k units.

Thanks for the info... Although these cummins diesels are almost bullet proof, and 128k is not excessive, I'd like one with fewer miles. Also, the one I'm looking at is located 50 miles away...

It has two 15.5K ACs; Conv Micro with gas oven, four door refrig with ice maker, Stacked washer and dryer, wood doors on bunks, 2 gas heaters (35k and 30k btu), front tires are new - rears are 3 years old, steering stabilizer, dinette booth, thermal tinted windows, all leather sofas and drive/passenger chairs (powered), heated basement, auto start 8k gen, auto jacks and auto awning, progressive elec protection, and more.

My guess is that it is worth about 85-87K on the retail market, but it might be more.

As a side note...

NADA RV does not list this year/model. At least I could not find it in the selections...

interesting.. maybe a model year holdover. Seems like just after 08, there was a year when hardly any RV's where made.

The $85-87K is probably a good ballpark number, but overall condition is of vital importance here.
