Tipping sales contact

When buying a motor home does anyone tip the sales person?
It seems we tip for everything, dinner, valet, any sort of service function.
I would never think of tipping a car salesman but somehow this seems a bit different.

WHAT?! Tipping=heck no. It's usually against company policy to give cash. I have sent a bouquet of flowers with a THANK YOU! balloon attached to our last sales woman who went over & above to help us resolve an issue on our Phaeton purchase . I've given our service adviser a gift card when she let her delivered in lunch go cold to go over a list of fixes we had done when we arrived early for our pick up appointment. She didn't have to do that, but she did. And I brought in 3 dozen fresh baked cookies for an entire service dept when the guys squeezed us in on short notice when a slide motor broke 2 days before we were to leave on an extended trip. Rather than make us have to go on our trip with a slide that wouldn't go out, they robbed a motor from a coach on the lot to get us on our way.

I've thanked with tangible items, never cash.

Last salesman I dealt with was driving a brand new Dodge Challenger Hellcat and telling us about his recent safari in South Africa. Tip? I don’t think so Tim!

Salesman, NO. Few, if any, don't work on commission so you've already increased his income. However, if you got good service from the poor guy who did your "walk thru", then give that person a hundred bucks and a smile.

Umm. No. It's not different. This "guilt' tipping to everyone we contact says volumes about our culture.

Tip a sales person. NO WAY. They make a living off the customers in the first place.

If someone involved in negotiating your sale accepts a personal gratuity from you, it is a direct conflict of interest, unless they're an owner. Many principals would fire an agent for that.

So you might want to avoid putting them into an uncomfortable situation.

(You might want to, instead, just write a letter to the owner telling him how wonderful his sales agent is.)

No way. I've met salesmen that should be tipping us for listening to their dribble.

This is what I think also. When I purchased our current coach the salesman and the guy in charge of all of the paperwork both told us "congratulations." To which I told them "congratulations." I didn't accomplish anything other than spend a lot of money. I thought it deserved more of a congratulations for the salesman to have made a sale. They looked at me like I was from another planet.
