Toad question

Hi all, just started seriously towing my Acadia. I expect lo expected a lot of dirt, etc on my car. What I have noticed is a rubber type odor when driving the car right after towing, all gauges seem good, is this kind of normal?

No. Do you tow with the steering wheel unlocked and the emergency brake off?

Yes, all of my roads have had that odor after towing. I have towed both Jeeps and Sierra PU.

It's perfectly normal. There is a lot of road grime, rubber particles, etc that gets on the exhaust system. When you are normally driving the particles burn off as they collect. When you tow, they collect then burn off when you start driving.

Thanks all, makes sense! And I’ll double check the emergency brake[emoji23][emoji23]!

Make sure you put your car's air system in re-circulation mode before you start. This helps keep the junk out of your air handling system and keeps the smell down to a minimum.

Perfectly normal. I've towed 3 different vehicles and they all produce that smell for 5-10 minutes after towing.

Or just turn the system off.

Hello! Yes this is normal my Jeep has that smell after being towed for more then a couple of hours I would not worry!!! The manifold is collecting road debris while its being towed and you are just burning it off when the engine is on.

That's a very normal occurrence. Like others have said you are merely getting road dust onto your exhaust system and it burns off when you start.
