Under sink pullout bin

The wife and I have never been happy with the big pullout slide under the kitchen sink and would like to replace it with something that is lighter, easier to pull, and more functional. We don't put our garbage can in the big open spot so we would like to use the space better.

Does anyone happen to have any pictures of what you did? Would love to see some ideas. I used to build furniture so this will be a DIY but can't seem to settle on a design.

Once I get into this project I am also going to replace the faucet, and I am going to router the counter top for the new cooktop to recess even with the countertop. I've held off on the cooktop because the plug for it is below the sink and almost impossible to get to without pulling out the bin and that is a pain. Appreciate any thoughts.

ID:	315802 We didnít use the big pull out either . We now use the area for garbage , recycle and beverage storage ( in bins ). In order to take it out there are 6-7 screws that have to be removed from underneath while laying on the floor using a very short screwdriver. Once removed you can lift the box off the sliding rails .
