Upgrading

My wife and I are upgrading from our '03 30' Brave. We love the layout and space in the '15 Breeze. But all the reports I've read about the MF7 engine really has me gun shy. We went years with auto brake haunting us in the Brave. Don't want that again. Looking for reliabilty. So anyone that can shed light on the Breeze as well as the power plant I'd welcome it.

Personally I would look at later models with the Cummins engine.

thanks. That just further confirms what I've been reading. Its a shame cause we really like the floorplan of the breeze. But wanted to stay around the 5 year mark.

I recently retired and have managed a fleet of trucks for years, about half of which were MaxxForce 7’s. We learned to have the particulate filter cleaned and serviced once a year by the local Navistar dealer which was about 25000-30000 miles for us. Granted that the Max Force emission system was a weak link but by keeping them cleaned, we had no more problems from them than we did the other trucks running Cummins. I think it cost us around $1000 to do the cleaning and service. If I wanted a Breeze, I wouldn’t be scared of the MF7, I would just have the particulate filter cleaned every 3-5 years.
