Using two satellite receivers (boxes) 36LA

It appears that we cannot have two televisions on separate satellite stations on the 36LA. Tiffin terminated the satellite cable into the same cabinet and uses a "blaster" to communicate between the boxes and the television control. Anytime one control changes channels the signal is sent to both boxes. i.e. Neither box can work independently from the other box. I thought about getting an RF box but the IR signal interefers with that as well. I tried moving one box lower in the cabinet but the blaster still sends the signal to both boxes. Is anyone else out there having problems watching two separate satellite channels?

I had that problem with two direct tv boxes. It was a PIA. I made a cover for the box ir window and covered the one not being changed. The DW only listened to music on her set. Some boxes have the ability to have discreet signals sent vs IR. I tried that with my system but the TV did not like it.

I use 2 satellite receivers, one stack on the other. One is for the bedroom and is controlled through a fiber optic cable from the bedroom to the receiver mounted in the front entertainment compartment. I place aluminum foil over the bedroom receiver's remote sensor window so the front remote does not trigger this receiver. The fiber optic cable terminates under this foil in front of the sensor window area. Works well.

Does either receiver have an RF remote option? If they do and your remote supports it, use that instead. We use the Dish Hopper/Joey system and the remotes are RF.

The "blaster" as you refer to is not really that at all. There are discreet IR leads that stick to the front of each device you want to control. The only one that I have stuck to anything is the Panasonic home theater box, everything else is RF and no problems. Each TV is controlled by the remote pointing at it but since they are all the same make, you can get some weird reflections at times and control the wrong TV.

Put the satellite boxes on RF, remove the IR leads from the same, and enjoy your system.
